The BCFM College of Functional Medicine is led by a dedicated Board of volunteers who generously contribute their time, expertise, and leadership to advance the College's mission. Representing a broad range of medical specialties, clinical interests, and professional experience, our Board brings together diverse perspectives from across the healthcare landscape. United by a shared commitment to safe, evidence-based Functional Medicine, Board members work collaboratively to strengthen professional standards, support education, develop clinical governance, and build a thriving community for doctors practising Functional Medicine in the UK

BCFM President - Dr Indra Barathan

Dr Indra graduated from Charing Cross and Westminster Medical School in 1997 and worked as an NHS GP until 2015 when she opened her specialist functional medical practice. Being part and setting up the British College of Functional Medicine has been a dream for Indra since the start of her journey in functional medicine

BCFM Chair of the Board - Dr Susanna Petche

Dr. Susanna Petche, founder of Trauma-Sense, is redefining trauma-informed care. With 25+ years as a GP, she created the C-Sense methodology - blending neuroscience, functional medicine, and coaching to transform lives. Through her pioneering Trauma-Sense programmes, she trains professionals and empowers individuals to heal and thrive.

BCFM Clinical Governance Lead - Dr Andie Siggers 

Andie graduated from Nottingham University medical school in 1998 and worked initially in hospital medicine before becoming a GP for many years. 

She is now part of Mosaic Medical as a fully certified FM doctor and also works as an appraisal lead within the NHS. Andie believes that the functional approach is the way we should be managing all chronic health issues with high quality medical training. To that end she is excited to be part of creating BCFM and focus on quality and governance within this. 

When not working Andie will be found paddle boarding, running and enjoying family life in Dorset.

BCFM Co-Lead for Education - Dr Mayoni Gooneratne 

Dr (Miss) Mayoni Gooneratne is a former NHS surgeon, and the founder of Human Health and SkinFit where she helps women to live their best and healthiest life. She believes that functional medicine is a fundamental and practical way to bring health to the nation, and being a co-founder of the BCFM is the start of this process.

BCFM Organisational Governance Lead - Dr Elizabeth Corcoran

Dr Corcoran combines her training in Psychiatry and Functional Medicine to empower people to restore their health through changing how they interact with their world.  She also runs the only UK charity focused on medical research helping people with Down’s syndrome, and is a Founding Officer of the National Down Syndrome Policy Group who supported the passing of the Down Syndrome Act 2022.

BCFM Membership Lead - Bobby Sira

 

Bobby graduated with First-Class Honours in Pharmacy from King's College London in 1996 and went on to complete postgraduate research in Molecular Medicine at University College London. With over 25 years' experience across the NHS and private sectors, he recognised the growing reliance on medication and the need for a more proactive approach to health.

In 2016, he trained in Ayurveda, completing a Diploma in Ayurveda Healthcare, and now combines this ancient system with his extensive clinical expertise. Bobby believes lasting health comes from empowering people to take greater responsibility for their wellbeing rather than relying solely on medication.

As an Integrative Health Specialist and founder of PharmAveda UK, Bobby teaches how Eastern and Western healthcare can work together to improve patient outcomes. He creates personalised health programmes, with a particular focus on Integrative Oncology.

BCFM Research and Publications Lead - Dr Olivia Lesslar 

Dr. Olivia Ly Lesslar is an Australian medical practitioner specializing in preventative medicine, psychoneuroimmunology, and complex conditions such as neurodegeneration, cancer, non-IgE-driven allergies, and the emerging septad of MCAS (Mast Cell Activation Syndrome), Dysautonomia, Hypermobility, GI dysmotility, Autoimmunity, Craniocervical Instability (CCI), and ME/CFS (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome). Renowned for her problem-solving skills in multisystem, chronic conditions, Dr. Lesslar collaborates with innovative, high-profile international clinics.

BCFM Treasurer - Dr Adigo Atabo

With over 20 years experience as a medical doctor, and 7 years experience in functional medicine, Dr Adigo Atabo advocates for a networked approach to health and chronic disease management.  She is an Institute for Functional Medicine Certified Practitioner, a Fellow in Plastic Surgery at the West African College of Surgeons, a Member at the Royal College of Surgeons of England, and is Founder and Managing Director at Persomic, a web platform providing personalised, data-driven support for nutrition therapy practitioners.

BCFM Lead for PR, Marketing and Events and Co-Lead for Education - Claire Gardin

Claire Gardin is an experienced project, education and events professional working within the health, wellness, and functional medicine space. She specialises in translating strategic objectives into well-governed, high-quality educational programmes, events, and communications that support professional development and community engagement. With a strong background in partnerships, sponsorships, and stakeholder collaboration, she brings a structured, detail-focused approach while retaining clear oversight of strategic intent. Claire is driven by a commitment to functional medicine and is passionate about creating credible, impactful platforms that foster learning, connection, and long-term value for healthcare communities

BCFM Lead for Finance and Strategic Planning - Dr Konrad Grosser

Dr Konrad Grosser is a Consultant Cardiologist and Interventionalist based in Canterbury, Kent and the founder of KentCardio and the Kent Medical Centre. He has trained internationally with leading figures in cardiology, including Professor Hein Wellens in Maastricht, Professor Gilles Montalescot in Paris and at Duke University, USA. He combines specialist expertise in interventional cardiology with certification in functional medicine, offering a unique approach that integrates advanced cardiovascular diagnostics and treatment with personalised prevention, metabolic health, lifestyle medicine and root-cause cardiovascular risk reduction. His clinical interests include coronary artery disease, hypertension, rhythm monitoring and patient-centred cardiovascular care. He is passionate about prevention and disease reversal/healing.
